Fertility yoga short course / cpd (2 days)

Focused breathing early pregnancyThis course combines professional training with an experiential journey that helps all participants to gain a deeper understanding of the miracle of conceiving a baby. The course is packed with practices that promote seamless continuity from preparation for conception to practical support during the delicate period around implantation up to viable placenta functioning during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Who is this course for?

This course is open to:

  • Birthlight trained Perinatal Yoga teachers
  • Birthlight Yoga for Maternity teachers
  • Well Woman Yoga teachers
  • Yoga teachers who have trained in Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth with recognised training providers
  • Health professionals and therapists specialised in women’s reproductive health

Therapists from backgrounds that do not include yoga should have a personal experience of yoga and an interest in using yoga-based practices to deepen their skills base and practical knowledge.

The course can count as CPD.

Course outline

This short course imparts knowledge of the effects of stress and various reproductive disorders on women’s physiology as these are frequently responsible for delays and difficulties that women experience when they wish to conceive. The course offers an integrated set of simple yoga practices, both restorative and energetic, that can enhance conception. The course also includes yoga practices specially beneficial for the first trimester after conception.

Participants will be prepared to teach Fertility Yoga classes for women and Fertility Yoga workshops for women on their own or women with their partners. From a holistic view we cover preparation for conception with poses, gentle movement and micro-movements integrating the use of the breath. A comprehensive range of effective practices yoga-based relaxation techniques, visualization, affirmations, mudras and mantras are imparted on the course to reduce anxiety and to help release psychosomatic obstacles to conception.

The course also includes practical resources for helping women to embrace the principles of yoga and promote day to day happiness and wellbeing while trying to conceive, particularly if they have had difficulties over a long time. Partners can be involved in Fertility Yoga workshops for their own benefit as well as for supporting women with confidence and understanding.

Yoga-based resources are also provided to offer women and couples greater resilience and comfort in the advent of disappointing early miscarriages or failed  IVF treatments.

Visual aids, worksheets and role-play are used to facilitate learning. Students receive a training manual and handouts.

How is this course assessed?

The Fertility Yoga short course is tutor assessed by means of a simple practical in which students teach a specific subject or practice learnt during the course to the group.

What qualification is gained on this course?

On successful completion, participants obtain a Certificate of Training in Fertility Yoga that qualifies them to offer professional Fertility Yoga classes and workshops to pregnant women and couples. Birthlight is registered with FEDANT (Federation of Antenatal Teachers).

This course contributes to CPD for birthlight trained teachers and may count as CPD for other health professionals and therapists.
