Aquatic Nurture for Newborns - first course a great success

"Exhilarating, exciting, mind blowing and Joyful"

These were just four words used to describe Birthlight's first Aquatic Nurture for Newborns course in the UK. A great success, it took place on 5 - 6 October at Calmababy in Peterborough with Birthlight tutor Alison Duff.

The Birthlight tutors came together in March 2019 for course training in this new and unique course with Francoise Freedman and Perrine Alliod. The tutors have shared their own experiences aquatic nurture - wonderful dialogues, intuitive and improvised aquatic dance and aquatic nurture healing.

Birthlight Aquatic Nurture for Newborns is not just for babies but also for parents and babies to relax together. It beautifully bridges the gap between aquanatal yoga and early baby swimming, while also gently weaving baby massage and yoga into the practice.

"Birthlight Aquatic Nurture brings together all the elements that start a baby on its journey maximising both mental and physical wellbeing so that the baby can develop into being the best, happiest, strongest person they can be."   Louise Watson, Birthlight teacher and course attendee

The Aquatic Nurture for Newborns 2 day course aims to provide the knowledge and practical skills of Aquatic Nurture, to support parents in enriching their experience of the bath as a space of communication and development with their newborns in the early months (0-4 months), from baby baths to tubs and warm pools.

By the end of the course, students will know how to help parents understand their newborns’ responses in water and optimise their various responses to enhance overall development. Students will be able to use the Birthlight practices to impart confidence and ease as foundations for Water Parenting and long-term enjoyment of movement in water.
