Birthlight baby swimming holds CPD

Birthlight teachers are required to attend a CPD (Continuous Professional Development) study day at least every two years. This is for quality reasons, to develop and enhance your skills and keep you up-to-date. There are many different topics for CPDs across both land and water courses.

On 28 January there was a CPD reviewing the Birthlight baby swimming holds delivered by tutor Alison Duff in her swim centre Calmababy in Peterborough. Thirteen baby swimming teachers and I as a tutor in training listened intently to Alison´s words.

The first part, the theoretical repetition of holds took place in the seminar room. It started with a nice welcome-game in form of partner-interview, which I liked very much for entrance. The theoretical part was a good mixture of Alison as a speaker and group activities.

The most impressive thing, for me, was the comparison of a scaffold and parents in the water: temporary, support as much as needed, alterable and much more words were found by the participants! That´s where the heart goes!

After a short break the holds were repeated with demonstration dolls in the water. Alison invited two groups of parent-child-pairs of different ages with which the teachers could work in the water.

Summarizing everyone benefited from this CPD.

Thank you Alison for this informative day!
