Dr Amali Lokugamage - Respectful maternity care

Dr Amali Lokugamage FRCOG, Birthlight Trustee, was invited to talk at the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecologists (RCOG) World Congress 2014, Hyderabad, India in March 2014.  Her two lectures on disrespectful maternity care have been published on the World Health Organisation's (WHO) website. The WHO published a statement on the prevention and elimination of disrespect and abuse during facility-based childbirth in 2014 and this is an emerging theme for them.

'Every woman has the right to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes the right to dignified, respectful health care.'  WHO

The lecture videos are called 'Obstetric Violence and Human Rights' and 'The Cost of Institutional Birth:a Wake Up Call for Obstetricians'.
