Birthlight Well Woman Yoga

Well Woman yoga complements perinatal yoga to benefit women with special requirements that cannot be met fully in general classes. The positive effects of Well Woman yoga are inseparably physiological and psychological in a holistic perspective.  Through their reproductive years and beyond, many women suffer from ailments that compromise their quality of life, whether they are medically treated or not, short-term or chronic.  Birthlight Well Woman yoga draws on insights from anatomy and physiology, on Ayurveda, on inter-disciplinary research and on a long experience of teaching yoga in women’s circles to enhance healthy energy flows in the pelvic region, overall hormonal balance and enjoyment of life.  The Birthlight adaptations make therapeutic applications of yoga accessible to all women irrespective of their state of fitness. In the calm and centred space that Asanas, breath practices, relaxation and meditation promote, inner tensions can be resolved and new outlooks found. Well Woman Yoga awakens the ‘wisdom of the body’ and empowers women to actively take charge of their wellbeing, on and off the yoga mat, with body-based therapeutic tools that are simple and effective.

Birthlight Well Woman Aqua Yoga

Water exercise and the benefits it brings are well documented: reducing pain, maintaining and improving flexibility, range of motion and muscle strength, regaining and improving balance and cardio respiratory fitness. To all these, Well Woman Aqua Yoga adds fluid movement sequences with breath awareness, floating relaxation and yoga-based adaptations of swim strokes. The properties of water make it an ideal medium to renew and recharge.  Based on three decades of experience and technical developments, many variations of yoga practices are offered to meet women’s needs in forms that are accessible and enjoyable for all, from non-swimmers to competition swimmers.
With freedom to move in water comes self-confidence, calmness of mind and a greater ability to face the rigors of daily life. In addition, many participants have reported significant improvements to conditions both acute and chronic.
