Olesya Uglova Photography

Birthlight would like to sincerely thank Olesya Uglova for her amazing photos, used on this website, which capture the true 'light' of birthlight and the spirals of joy from shared activity.

Olesya Uglova Photography

My son was the beginning. Photography was a big part of my life before,  I’d also photographed children before – but I really started seeing children after my son’s birth.

Good photography is not an illusion; it captures a child’s personality, emotions and life - sincere and beautiful. This is why I love taking photographs of children in their own environment, a place where they are familiar - at home or in their garden where they live, play and grow up. A studio can never match this.

I love to capture what is so difficult to catch and fix on film – your love. The glance between parent and child, the interaction with a sibling these are lasting and precious memories for you to treasure.

My sessions

My sessions are relaxed and fun; I try to be as unobtrusive as possible.  I won’t ask your child to ‘say cheese’ or to ‘stand by that flower bed’ I’ll capture their emotions as they play and you interact. A good portrait can be taken on a doorstep, on coming back from a walk, playing with a toy or on an adventure.

Clothes are very important for portraits. I can help you choose the ones that will work on that specific day. The key is colour and naturalness. For babies and particularly for newborns bare skin and natural fabrics work best. Children love to be barefoot and tousled and I love shooting them like that!

During a natural photography session I make use of the sun’s ambient light and don’t bring any additional intrusive studio equipment, I don’t use an external flash.
