Birthlight tutor - Nima Keshavarzi

Nima Keshavarzi

Nima started yoga in 2005, having moved from Iran to Dubai, whilst looking for something that could help her to cope with the quiet life there.

She explored many styles of yoga at the same time as attending a Sivananda teacher training course in India. Coming upon an aqua yoga class in Dubai, she fell in love with it right away, and searched the internet for any training opportunities. She soon found back-to-back perinatal and aqua yoga courses offered by Francoise in Moscow. She underwent both training courses as part of the first group of Birthlight trainees in Moscow in 2008 and has been teaching classes in Dubai and Tehran ever since.

Nima has also taken Postnatal Yoga, Baby Yoga and Well Woman Yoga training courses offered by the Birthlight team. Meeting Francoise opened a new door to the realm of yoga and turned her journey to a new pathway to serve women. She admires Francoise’s approach and attitude towards yoga, and life in general, and believes in Birthlight’s original and powerful ideas on wellbeing and happiness of women and their families, which affects the whole society.

As well as teaching perinatal and baby yoga, she enjoys integrating the Birthlight elements to her general yoga classes. She has a fun and flexible approach in her yoga classes and tries to take care of the needs of every individual in the class as far as she can. Aqua yoga remains her favourite teaching subject, and she has developed a passion for using exercise balls to her own practice and teaching as it is the closest experience to aquatic exercises one can get on land. Teaching yoga swing is another of her specialties, which has a strong resemblance to doing aqua yoga on land.

Nima began tutoring the Birthlight Aquanatal Yoga teacher training course in 2019 in Moscow, where it all began. She also shares her interest on women and exercise balls with other enthusiasts in the form of workshops and teaches women-related subjects to the midwives in Iran. She has written a book on aqua yoga with lots of sketches demonstrating how to practice yoga in the water environment, and is working on a few more projects.
